J.T. Sherman brings a unique advantage to Compton Law because prior to joining the firm, he started his legal career defending doctors and hospitals in complex medical malpractice cases.
J.T. was born and raised in Oklahoma City. He attended and graduated from Heritage Hall in 1998 where he was a state champion and nationally recognized member of the debate team. Before his senior year, J.T. was selected to be a University of Kentucky Policy Debate Fellow, an award bestowed on the top twelve senior debaters in the nation. Attending on academic scholarship, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Minor in Religion at Oklahoma City University in 2002, followed by a Masters in Liberal Arts in 2004. In 2010, J.T. graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law. J.T. and was honored at graduation with membership to the Order of Barristers due to outstanding achievements with the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Team while at OCU Law.
During law school J.T. interned at one of Oklahoma City’s top defense firms specializing in providing legal services to insurance companies, hospitals and healthcare providers. Following graduation from law school, J.T. was offered a full time position at the defense firm where his practice centered on representing local hospitals in a variety of cases. He practiced insurance defense and medical malpractice law from 2010 until he was recruited to work in-house for the Oklahoma Region of SSM Health, the parent company of St. Anthony Hospital in 2015.
In 2016, missing the feel of being in the courtroom, and longing to help Oklahomans who have been wrongfully injured, he joined The Compton Law Firm. J.T.’s practice currently centers around personal injury, medical malpractice, truck and vehicle accidents, and wrongful death cases. J.T. is a member of the Oklahoma State Bar, all three Federal Jurisdictions in Oklahoma, the Oklahoma County Bar, and the American Bar Association.
